Meet The Team – CKJobs

At CKJobs, we believe that our greatest strength is our people. Behind every initiative, event, and resource we provide is a dedicated team working hard to connect job seekers with opportunities and support local employers.

Our “Meet the Team” series is designed to give you a closer look at the talented individuals who make it all happen. Each week, we’ll feature one of our team members, sharing their role, passions, and a few fun facts so you can get to know the faces behind CKJobs.

What is your role at CKJobs, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m a Pre-Employment Job Developer, which means I work with individuals to overcome barriers to employment. Every day looks a little different because each person’s needs are unique. I might help someone apply for Better Jobs Ontario funding to return to school, sign up for certifications to boost their job prospects, or prepare for interviews. A big part of my role is getting to know each client—understanding what’s holding them back and finding ways to bridge those gaps. I also spend a lot of time revising resumes and exploring local opportunities to connect people with jobs they’ll find meaningful.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love that my role allows me to think outside the box and be creative when finding solutions for clients. Every situation is different, so it keeps things interesting! The biggest highlight, though, is seeing someone achieve their goal. When a client finally lands a job, it feels like a win for both of us. Knowing I played a part in helping them get there is incredibly rewarding.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto that inspires you?

“It’s all a process, steps along a path. Becoming requires equal parts patience and rigor. Becoming is never giving up on the idea that there’s more growing to be done.” — Becoming by Michelle Obama

Favorite local spot in Chatham-Kent?

Book Brothers on King Street East! It’s a family-owned, small business, which makes it even more special. I love browsing their shelves and discovering hidden gems.

How would you describe the CKJobs team in three words?

Collaborative, Compassionate, Innovative

What advice would you give to someone looking for a job in Chatham-Kent?

Be open-minded and flexible. Chatham-Kent has a wide range of opportunities, but sometimes the perfect job isn’t the one you initially imagined. Network as much as possible. Connect with local employers, attend job fairs, and use resources like CKJobs to learn what’s out there. Also, invest in yourself: whether it’s updating your resume, getting certifications, or brushing up on interview skills, those small steps can make a big difference. And most importantly, don’t hesitate to ask for help —there are great supports in the community to guide you through the process.
